
When standing near an Otter, players receive:
• 75–82 Hypothermic Insulation
• 34–38 Hyperthermic Insulation
These values scale with the Otter’s Melee Damage stat and diminish with increased distance. The same insulation bonus applies when the Otter is worn around the player’s neck.
The Otter is the only creature whose inventory functions as a structure rather than a standard creature inventory. This unique property allows it to carry multiple Artifacts, including duplicates of the same type, simultaneously. Because of this structural inventory, items stored within do not benefit from extended spoilage timers.
It is essential that, when raising otters, you configure a custom feeding list in your feeding troughs to ensure that only otters are able to consume fish meat. Failing to do so may result in nearby carnivores consuming the fish meat supply, rapidly depleting all troughs and leaving the otters without sufficient food, which can ultimately lead to starvation and death.
The Otter can be equipped with helmets, providing additional damage resistance.
The Otter is capable of harvesting Silica Pearls and, on occasion, Black Pearls from small fish after killing and harvesting their remains.
